Sharing some of the birds we met around Kauai. This island, known as the “garden island”, was beautiful at every glance.

The birds in Kauai are plentiful, including right on the doorstep of our rental condo! We enjoyed many cups of coffee watching the Nene wander by, and so many other birds in the yard!

A brief layover in the Honolulu Airport gave me my first Hawaii state birds! Some Pacific Golden-plovers on the runway, and a couple more in the beautiful garden area of the airport!

The best of my “balcony birds” are the hummingbirds that nest in the trees right off my patio. They squeak, squirm, test their wings and tiny feet… enjoy some baby hummingbird photos!

A rare Snowy Owl landed on a rooftop in Orange County in December and caused quite a stir. This owl was a welcome visitor. It was last seen in mid-January 2023, so hopefully it has made a safe journey back north to find her other Snowy Owl friends!

The Fall 2021 Sea and Sage Pelagic trip was really great. The boat left just after sunrise and returned just before sunset, and the day was full of fun birds and great people. Red-billed Tropicbirds were the highlight of the day!

The January 2020 Sea and Sage Pelagic trip was really great. The boat left just after sunrise and returned just before sunset, and the day was full of fun birds, gorgeous ocean views, and meeting some great people. I’m already looking forward to when I can join another Sea and Sage Pelagic trip!
