Oboz Sawtooth Boots
Hiking boots can truly make or break an adventure - this is something I have learned the hard way. Setting out on an adventure with slightly loose boots, and then returning 10 miles later with large pieces of skin not attached... not fun.
Enter Oboz. These are quite honestly the most comfortable boots I've found. I acquired these, looking brand new, from an REI garage sale. I had no idea how to buy boots, or what to look for in style or fit, but I got lucky with these. The Oboz Sawtooth boots are great looking, great fitting, and provide the right amount of padding and airflow for a long day of hiking. Even though I'm a female, the male model of these boots is a great fit (I wear a larger than normal shoe size).
These boots are great for hiking in hot climates, as they allow for air to get through and keep feet somewhat drier than they could be. They have well treaded bottom for grip when I'm climbing over rough boulders or down rocky slopes. They don't have as much rubber on the toe as some boots, but they have a thick extra layer of leather. They have taken a few rough pokes and scuffs, and toe drags across granite rocks, and seem no worse for the wear. While they are definitely not waterproof, I've gotten them wet a few times and they dry out relatively quickly. The insole provides excellent support. The heel cup is strong and supportive. Plus, they are just great looking boots! I'm definitely a fan of these boots, and would recommend them to anyone looking at a classic, low-rise, ready-to-go hiking boot.
If you're looking for a low maintenance and dependable boot, take a look at what Oboz has to offer. They are a great company, doing great things - planting trees for every shoe you buy - and they definitely make high quality footwear.
