They often get bombed by defensive Least Terns during my shorebird monitoring shifts as well! Despite all the adventures, they have endured, and are still in good condition!

From Kowa directly: “Each BDII-XD is fully waterproof and dry nitrogen filled to prevent the lenses from fogging and Kowa’s KR coating protects from dirt and other foreign residue build-up that may affix to the lenses during use.” Critical durability to me!

I can attest that the people at Kowa stand behind their products, too. I sent my pair in for service (mostly to have the cleaned) and they handled it quickly and professionally, and as a warranty at no cost to me. The binoculars were returned to me in nearly new condition with all new covers, and so clean!
