Gear Report : Keen Womens Voyageur Mid Hiking Boots
Hiking is something I've always done, and enjoyed but I never really called it "hiking". I spent most of my childhood in India, and the majority of that time was in a small village called Mussoorie, in the foothills of the Himalayas. We had no road to our house, or school, or the little grocery market. So any time we left the house we got on a path and "hiked" up to the grocery store, down to school, or across to the village "bazaar". We did this in sandals, flip flops, rain boots, tennis shoes - but never anything categorized as a "hiking boot".
At our first REI Garage Sale I was amazed by the amount and variety of hiking and outdoor shoes, sandals and boots that were piled on at least 10 tables. After trying on at least a dozen different brands, heights, sizes, I settled on these Keen Voyaguer Mid's.
These boots are amazing. Especially after having been hiking and scrambling in Joshua Tree in regular tennis shoes. A good snug fit without crushing my little toes, good support around the ankle without being too restrictive, and the additional rubber on the toe is perfect for when you need to be rough with your toes in order to climb to the top of a random boulder or cliff while wandering around.
